Masters Swimming Championships. That amazing event is going to be held
on 11-12 of September 2010 in the town of Velingrad. The place of the Champs:
50 m out-door swimming pool with mineral water known as “Plazha” in Velingrad.

Avramova, one of the best Bulgarian backstroke swimmer ever represents
its nation at the present 30th European Swimming Championships that
is helding in the Hungarian capital (August 09-15, 2010). Here we present

Slavejko
(Slave) Filev
(1924-1999) is the first man who swam front crawl at the Ohrid Lake. In
1939 the 14-years old Filev has seen in Ohrid the movie “Tarzan” with Johnny
Weissmuller. After seeing it many times, Slave Filev has began to practice
first time ever front crawl at the Ohrid Lake. The First Bulgarian Swimming
Site presents a portrait of that unforgettable swim giant.
2010 Summer
Bulgarian Absolute Championships concluded successfully the last week-end
in the city of Varna. The best swimmers were Ventsislav Ajdarski
(4 gold medals by men’s) and Nina Rangelova (6 gold medals with

Bulgarian long-distance swimmer Petar Stoychev won the bronze medal
in 25 km race at the 6Th FINA World OWS Championship that was held
in Roberval (Canada). In the men’s longest event, A. Meyer (USA) was the
best and V. Cleri (ITA) got the silver. The First Bulgarian Swimming Site

In the town
of Kavarna (BUL North Black Sea Coastline) the I International Water
Polo Tournament successfully concluded last week-end. The age group
teams were the kid’s champions of Bulgaria and Russia. The next year in

At the marvelous
complex of Jagodina out-door water park (Central Serbia) by the 50-m pool,
the traditional 13th international meet Jagodina Open Championships
2010 successfully concluded last week-end. More then 220 competitors
from BUL, FYROM and SRB took part in the events. Petar Bozhilov
(2000) won 2 medals on 50 m Free (gold) and 200 m Ind. Medley (silver),
while Georgia Kadoglu picked up also 2 medals – 100 m Breast
(gold) and 50 m fly (silver). Info about the Absolute BUL Champs 2010
in Varna is also included.
37th edition
of the EJC Helsinki 2010 successfully concluded last week-end. The First
Bulgarian Swimming Site presents the detailed report about that amazing

1960, Valentin Popov became the first Bulgarian who swam out under

Competition
in Georgian style of swimming....

On May 25,
2010 at the Sport Complex „Laguna Vere“ (Georgia) the interesting "new"
swimming competition has been held in Georgian style of swimming called
the „Free Kolkhuri“ (Lazuri) within the Tbilisi City Hall Cup. The
participants were girls and boys, who swam across 50 and 100 meters distances.
Especially for this style of swimming the composer Merab Mamulashvili wrote
„Lazian March“. Main Judge of the competition was Manana Zambakhidze. The
winners were awarded diplomas, medals and money cash. Special report on

concluded 2010 Youth Balkan Games in swimming that is held in Varna

Balkan Youth Games – the swim teams announced....

The 2010
Balkan Youth Swim Games is undoubtedly the most important event this
year among the young swimmers being held at the Balkan Peninsula. The competition
will be held on June 5-6 at the “Primorski” swimming complex in Varna (Bulgaria).
The teams of Greece, Romania, Serbia and Turkey are already announced.
The First Bulgarian Swimming Site presents the names of the swimmers of
these four countries. The unique night photos of the venue of the competition
are also included.
The First
Bulgarian Swimming Site presents a wide article devoted to the developing
of the swim sport in the town of Silistra, Bulgaria. In Silistra, the first
Bulgarian European champion (1994 in Stavanger, Norway) within the
sport of swimming, Denislav Kalchev is born. Kalchev is now living in the
USA. Accent of the scanty swimming facilities in this moment in Silistra
is especially given in this review.
On May 18,
1923 in the City of Varna, the Bulgarian’s People Marine Agreement (BPMA)
was established. BPMA has the inestimable merit for the development of
the modern Bulgarian swimming sport. In 2010, the Bulgarian swimming movement
celebrats 87 years anniversary of the Bulgarian swimming sport. Happy Holiday!
23rd edition
of the international meeting Acropolis Grand Prix concluded successfully
this week-end in Athens (Greece). Bulgaria was presented from 2 women's
swimmers:
Dobromira Ivanova in the 50 m Fly (29,83) – 4th place
and in the 100 m Fly (1:07,86) – 7th place and Simona Pantova in
the 50 m Back (33,83) – 20th place, the 100 m Back (1:11,65) – 18th place
and 200 m Back (2:33,30) – 16th place.
The new 25
m long in-door swimming pool is opened for visitors in the City of Varna,
famous tourist resort at the Black Sea coast line in Bulgaria. The new
swim pool is named “Dolphins”. The First Bulgarian Swimming Site presents

Yane Petkov will attempt to make a record for a Guinness book. On 24 of
July 2010, the Amphibian Man will swim with bound legs and hands on “Dyakovo”

Cup 2010" Krusevac has successfully concluded this week-end in Serbia.
About 620 competitors from 36 clubs (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria,
Slovakia, FYROM and Serbia) have participated in this event. The First

Spartakiada
2010, the national multi-sports event dedicated to the young Bulgarians
from the native land and abroad will be held in the town of Kavarna, BUL
(5-9 of May). That sport event is organized by the Ministry of physical
education and sport and the Agency for Bulgarians abroad with support of
municipalities of Kavarna and Bansko. Regrettably the swimming sport is

& BWPF - Press conference of the Presidents....

On April 8,
2010 in Sofia the Presidents of the Bulgarian Swimming Federation (BSF)
and the Bulgarian Water Polo Federation (BWPF) have given a Press conference.
Georgi
Avramtchev (President of the BSF) underlined that the present competitive
swimming has a lot of talented young swimmers. For Andrey Andreev
(President of the BWPF) the main goal for the future is returning of teenagers
in the swim pools. The new BUL swim magazine “Swimming & Water Polo”
was also presented.
