Program
for developing of the Bulgarian swimming sport till 2008
By Ivan Tsanov (October
2002)
| According to the Bulgarian
Swimming Federation, the Program for developing of the Bulgarian swimming
sport is created till 2008. The Program must be approved by the Managing
Committee of the Federation (12 people). The most important topics are
as follows: |
|
During the season
2002 - 2003 Bulgarian swimming cup with 6 tournaments will start. Each
tournament will provide prize money and finally overall prize money. |
|
In Bulgaria will be built
up 4 - 5 national swimming centers - bases for the National team. Probably
two of them will be located in Plovdiv and Sandansky. |
|
Mr. Emil Kyulev, President
of the Bulgarian Swimming Federation (former swimmer and now top
banker) will provide 20 talented young swimmers with grants. |
|
For the Olympic Games in
Athens 2004, Bulgaria will count on Gueorgui Palazov (Fly and I.M.), Atanas
Datchanski (Free and Fly), Ivajlo Ivanov (Free) and the great hope - Mikhail
Alexandrov (Breast and I.M.) now living in U.S.A. and others perspective
swimmers. |
|
Bulgaria will exchange swimmers
and coaches for first time with Ukraine and Romania. |
|
The main strategic goal
is however the Olympic Games 2008 in China. |
|
All Bulgarian swimmers,
coaches, administrators, fans and just friends can hope that all this intentions
are only the first steps and they will give the considerable changes for
the better future. The results of the Bulgarian swimmers are now mediocre
even poor. This situation is for all of us unacceptable - for example this
year in Volos (GRE) the Bulgarian men swimmers remain without gold medal
during the Balkan Games. But in the country of Mr. Petar Stoytchev (FINA
World Open Water Champion 2001), Mr. Anton Mikhaylov (FINA World Masters
Champion 2002) and Mrs. Tanya Bogomilova (Olympic Champion 1988) things
are getting on well. |
